Autódromo Ciudad de La Rioja – La Rioja

Circuit: Existing
Layout: Fictitious (designed by me) – © 2022 AllAlongTheRacetrack

When was the track built?

There are no clear indications on the inauguration date, but the 3.4km racetrack has been used for a while for local Tourism races, mainly because it was too narrow and twisty for more powerful series.
After a deal with the new Formula One Organization, an extension and complete refurbishment, designed by me, will be completed to make it suitable for Formula 1 and other top series and to include it in the Circuit Database.

When was its first Grand Prix?

It will be the first ever Formula 1 GP in this venue.
It is one of the eight Argentinian circuits in the database that will rotate for three spots in the Continental Series and one in the World Title.

What’s the circuit like?

The main straight, considerably extended, now allows proper pit buildings and main stand to be built and it becomes an overtaking spot.
The newly built part, up to Turn 7, presents sweeping corners and it leads to the high-speed snaking section, taken from the original; in these curves, car balance will be pivotal.
The final sector, also redesigned, is slower and more technical, with a tricky braking zone into the final chicane; lunges are possible also here.

Where is it located?

It is located in la Rioja, in the North Western part of Argentina, served by the local airport connected to the capital Buenos Aires. Cordoba is the closest big city, around 400km East. (- 29°24’19”, – 66°52’51”)
