When was the track built?
The drag strip was opened in 1975, and in the following years the circuit was added and then extended in the 1980s; now it hosts mainly private and small events on the circuit, while the focus is on drag racing.
The growth of F1 in the United States combined with the new Organization pushed for a new layout and facilities improvements, designed by me, that will make it suitable to host all major motorsport events, including Formula 1, which will come here surely for the Continental Series.
When was its first Grand Prix?
It will be the first ever race in this venue.
It is one of the eight circuits in the Central area of the United States, which will rotate for three spots in the Continental Series.
What’s the circuit like?
The main straight corresponds to the 1.15km repaved drag strip and will project cars at 340+ km/h to the first corner.
Sector 2 is the old extension, characterized by the downhill straight after Turn 5 and the uphill fast T6 and T7, and mainly long-radius and fast corners up to T10 that connects it to the newly designed one, with more technical and slightly slower curves.
The banked T20 and the double apex T21/22 are crucial to launch cars into the main overtaking spot.
The first corner has also some banking that will allow attacking both on the inside and on the outside lines.
Where is it located?
Just West of Pueblo city centre, in the southern part of Colorado, around 20km from its airport, which offers connections to Denver, located 200km to the north. (+ 38°18’23”, -104°40’42”)
